The father of an IRA bomb victim who inspired The Cranberries hit Zombie was ’completely unaware’ of the tribute until Dolores O’Riordan’s death. Colin Parry paid tribute to the late Limerick singer who died suddenly on Monday at the age of 46.
The dad of a young IRA bomb victim said he was “completely unaware” that the tragic story of his son inspired the Cranberries hit song ‘Zombie’. Tim Parry, 12, was killed alongside three-year-old Jonathan Ball in an IRA bombing in Warrington in 1993. The death were caused by two bombs which went off in quick succession at lunchtime.
Colin Parry, father of Tim Parry had no idea that The Cranberries’ song, “Zombie”, released in 1994, was a written in memory for his son as well as for Ball until after the death of the lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan became public. O’Riordan, 46, suddenly passed away on Monday.
